Overview
The CARICOM Secretariat, in collaboration with the Caribbean Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (CCREEE) and the Technical Assistance Programme for Sustainable Energy in the Caribbean (TAPSEC) held a series of Low Emissions Analysis Platform (LEAP) trainings in 2021. These trainings were designed by the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) and administered in partnership with the Greenhouse Gas Management Institute (GHGMI).
LEAP is a powerful, versatile and affordable software system for integrated energy planning and climate change mitigation assessment. LEAP is increasingly used across the Caribbean, especially as governments update their Paris Agreement commitments.
The LEAP training supported collective capacity building through the enhancement of knowledge and skills for energy planning in electric utilities, electricity regulatory agencies, government ministries and agencies responsible for sustainable energy planning and emissions mitigation, and academia.
