The Caribbean Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (CCREEE’s) continues to edify regional energy professionals through a virtual capacity building session on Solar Integration. This session was a part of an Integrated Resource and Resilience Plan (IRRP) capacity building series aimed to strengthen energy planning throughout CARICOM.
Lecturer in the Department of Physics at the University of the West Indies (UWI) Mona Campus, Dr. Randy Koon Koon led the session alongside Principal Consultant at ENBAR Consulting in Jamaica, Mr. David Barrett. Among other topics covered, Dr. Koon Koon and Mr. Barrett offered introductory instruction on solar photovoltaic (PV) integration, PV systems, PV installation, operation, and maintenance, codes and inspections, and project financing.
The two-hour capacity building session also featured a presentation from Mr. Lincoy Small, Director of the System Operations Division of the Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS), who spoke on solar PV integration in Jamaica from the utility perspective.

The CCREEE-led IRRP Programme capacity development sessions are supported by the Climate Resilient and Sustainable Energy Supply (Cli-RES) project. Cli-Res is jointly funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the European Union and implemented by GIZ in collaboration with the Energy Unit of the CARICOM Secretariat.
